10:02 mircea_popescu the objection is sound on the face, but nevertheless for some unknown to me reason it seems not to prevail.
10:02 mircea_popescu very similar process with opium, as well. burma had cvasi-monopoly in classival world. why ? certainly not because sent agents to kill anyone at unknown distances.

10:08 asciilifeform diana_coman: it's what you have on s.mg primary machine
10:09 asciilifeform there is not however a mechanism for 'convert from stone age gentoo to cuntoo w/out nuking disk', afaik .
10:09 diana_coman yes but I struggle to understand why was it that hanbot struggled so much with getting a cuntoo first since apparently there is actually this image that is frozen and usable
10:10 asciilifeform ( it is in principle possible to make such a thing, but no one afaik has attempted , and i cannot immediately think re how to approach )
10:10 asciilifeform diana_coman: depends what means 'usable'
10:10 asciilifeform it's what's on s.mg an' dulap. but defo obsolete, it's a stone age glibc-based gentoo.
10:10 diana_coman as far as I understood it, she was simply trying to get some gentoo system installed first i.e. to have A system, not that much to be able to emerge new stuff or whatever
10:11 asciilifeform if you want another s.mg-style box, can be baked very quickly. but it does not reduce the amount of sweat needed to install cuntoo at later point.
10:11 asciilifeform cuz destructive process.
10:12 asciilifeform dulap-gentoo is essentially same item as rk gentoo, and is installed same way.
10:13 asciilifeform iirc hanbot was ~not~ working from dulap-gentoo tho, but from an even older bootstick image.
10:14 asciilifeform ( dulap-gentoo does not boot from stick, it requires working hdd to install )
10:16 asciilifeform to be maximally pedantic : both 'dulap' and 'rk' gentoo tarballs were created by literally tarring up the contents of two respective boxes where asciilifeform hand-sewed a gentoo based on the classic 2015-era 'kill list' gentoo recipe.
10:17 asciilifeform ( on each, 'rebuild world' was executed, bins rebuilt with asciilifeform's flags etc )
10:18 asciilifeform ave1's musltronic gnat does run on each, and so do the musltronic bins it births. however the system utils are still glibcistic.

Seems like there are several in L1 who probably are much closer to genesis-ing such a kit (phf, ben_vulpes, spyked, prolly a few others), though as it stands now there are still no vpatches. I figure I'll get the ball rolling and if any of the mentioned to 'beat-me-to-the-punch' here (and I welcome this) the worst outc
14:37 a111 Logged on 2019-05-02 15:23 asciilifeform: none of these currently on front burner, but will be 9000x easier to revive if meanwhile lobbes et al produce an edible cl 'wwwism kit'
14:37 mircea_popescu heck, most things that consist of someone doing something don't. it's like old style dad wallet pics of the kid : "here's my kid doing this, here's my kid doign that..."
14:38 mircea_popescu lobbes_field, what's the idea here anyway, like a sort of "script html in cl" ?
14:38 BingoBoingo mircea_popescu: Is suspect the number of Venezolanas vs venezolanos I've met here may be a function of distance. The ones here got out on their own or got out with family money.
14:38 mircea_popescu possibru.
14:39 mircea_popescu lobbes_field, also your lengthy line got cut.
14:39 lobbes_field mircea_popescu pretty much, would need something that can take loglines from the logbot's log table and produce html
14:39 lobbes_field Ah whoops
14:39 mircea_popescu hm.
14:39 asciilifeform lobbes_field: i've previously used 'cl-who', but it needs to get eaten/genesised/frozen
14:39 mircea_popescu oh, this is only specced as "in lisp" because the rest of the bot is in cl.
14:41 lobbes_field On dumbphone atm, heres rest of line "the worst outcome for me personally would be I learn more cl (i.e. not a bad thing at all). And we get some republican items made in either case."
14:41 lobbes_field asciilifeform I did see that in my research. Glad to know you've used in the past with satisfactory results
14:43 lobbes_field To continue my earlier cut-line: I think in the past I've been too sensitive regarding avoidance of 'duplicitive efforts', but the mircea_popescu quote of "all time is burned time" has been burning in my head.
14:43 lobbes_field I.e. If, say, spyked writes a better cl-www-tron I'd still want to be able to fit the thing in my head. So any work I do toward 'building my own' will only aid me in that task (hence relatedly, I suppose, why 'build yer own v-tron' is a commonly recommended exercise).
14:45 lobbes_field Bit as a practical start, I may just sit down and read some of the existing items out there (cl-who) and then eventually freeze/gebesis
14:48 lobbes_field mircea_popescu: re: specced in lisp, indeed, with the exception of my python command router / auctionbot, the rest of the ircbot/logbot v-tree is lisp. I know python ain't long for the world so I figure it is time I lose those training wheels
14:50 mircea_popescu aite.

14:53 lobbes_field Anyways, back to mines for me, but I'ma keep noodling on logotronics. bbl
14:54 * asciilifeform observes that 'bot that knows when it has lost contact' is still open , afaik, problem
14:55 asciilifeform 1 possible pill is to run'em in pairs, and both reset if dun see pm from the other within x min ( iirc mircea_popescu suggested this some yrs ago )
14:55 whaack whaack, you know, for the record, "here's this vz chick i picked up" does not count as noise on this channel. << noted!

16:54 asciilifeform lol, wai would they 'yield'. usg prints moola by the gigatonne, gives'em just like gives to microshit. a++ 'biznismodel'. aand nao finally banned competing chinese router ( which, lulzily, is mostly indistinguishable from cisco in any way that matters )
16:54 asciilifeform soon enuff i expect cisco will be Officially mandatory in all reich telecom , like at&t gear once was pre-divestiture

23:18 Mocky http://btcbase.org/log/2018-11-24#1874402 << this suggests that each key holder can only host $key/gns at one ip address. And what about vpatch ordering and the v manifest file? If i have an entry for archive.is and want to change that entry, I can't just make and sign a patch of my own, i have to patch on top of the 'consensus' press, otherwise manifest won't match and can't press multiple heads. Am I wrong about how that works?
23:18 a111 Logged on 2018-11-24 19:51 mircea_popescu: i ~suppose~ one manner of handling this is the followingf convention : patches to be acquired from $key/gns/ dir, for all keys in the seals ring. so it'd look for "6160E1CAC8A3C52966FD76998A736F0E2FB7B452/gns" which is not a "valid" domain per usg.verisign "rules" however it DOES resolve in our own system. because we can put ips on anything we want.
