i've written a simple demo, where use "marks" around areas to be able to replace and update those areas when more information is available

tk text widget is plenty powerful, supports a handful of concepts to markup and subdivide the output for all the pest needs. i think you can even output inline images

the only feature that's missing (and that depends on who you ask) is file drag&drog and drop. i would've liked to be able to drop a file onto the pest window, and get it pasted or uploaded or whatever
