kiwi_46shake |
here is anyone from the "bitcoin foundation"? |
12:57 |
kiwi_46shake |
i want to report something |
12:58 |
kiwi_46shake |
is this jurov guy the is one who running this? |
12:58 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: currently jurov is the only officer of tbf. leave message for him, he'll read eventually in the log of this chan. |

I received a message from admin@bitcoin.foundation and asking me for 10 Bitcoin. I looked up and the domain https://bitcoin.foundation is real and is registered until 2028! Than I did a search in Bing and find thebitcoin.foundation and I having hard time to understand what is going on. |
13:00 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: i once received a message 'from obama' also asking for btc. it is very easy to forge headers. |
13:01 |
shinohai |
also, "bitcoin.foundation" has nothing to do with here |
13:01 |
shinohai |
this is "THEbitcoin.foundation" |
13:02 |
kiwi_46shake |
Not that easy. the bitcoin.fooundation domain has MX records at protonmail so I doubt you can forge that one, it is also signed by DNSSEC. |
13:03 |
kiwi_46shake |
shinohai for me sounds silly to have the THEbitcoin.foundation domain when there is a bitcoin.foundation domain already. |
13:04 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: 'bitcoin.foundation' belonged to a (afaik now closed) scam org, which fraudulently posed as 'official' maintainers of bitcoin client some yrs ago |
13:04 |
kiwi_46shake |
I looked up the DNS records of the bitcoin.foundation domain and it is hosted in Russia, China, and Iran (moscow, shanghai and tehran respectively) something very strange about that domain |
13:05 |
kiwi_46shake |
asciilifeform I don't think so, https://web.archive.org/*/bitcoin.foundation is a proof that you are wrong. |
13:06 |
kiwi_46shake |
still the A records on bitcoin.foundation pointing to China, Russia and Iran |
13:06 |
kiwi_46shake |
this kind of mindblowing... |
13:06 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: wrong re which ? |
13:07 |
shinohai |
*mindblowing* (-_\) |
13:07 |
kiwi_46shake |
lol |
13:10 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: at any rate, in case wasn't clear, whether or not 'bitcoin.foundation' owner is sending spam (or was hacked), is entirely unrelated, earlier org. the group this chan is about, opened in oct. of '14 , and concerned strictly w/ maintenance of the orig. client program. no one in the former participated in the latter, or vice-versa. |
13:11 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: i rec to complain to the contact of the domain in the spam. |

kiwi_46shake would you get the hell out of here? you're most likely the same sad bastard who came here selling the bitcoin.foundation domain some time ago |
13:12 |
kiwi_46shake |
the thing is I don't think is spam |
13:12 |
kiwi_46shake |
I never said that |
13:12 |
kiwi_46shake |
but when I searched bitcoin foundation |

Logged on 2020-08-16 14:13:45 kiwi_91: I own bitcoin(.)foundation we invested more than $100,000 USD in this premium domain |
13:12 |
kiwi_46shake |
I see bitcoin.foundation and AFTER I see thebitcoin.foundation |
13:14 |
kiwi_46shake |
on bing.com when you search for "bitcoin foundation" I see sometimes bitcoin.foundation is the first beating even bitcoinfoundation.org and thebitcoin.foundation so I think something is very very strange |
13:14 |
kiwi_46shake |
also it is hosted in China, Russia and Iran |
13:15 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: i do not know who or why operates 'bitcoin.foundation' today, and i doubt jurov knows. you're in the wrong place, please write to that domain's contact. |
13:20 |
kiwi_46shake |
whoever operates it, it seems that planning for a long time since the whois says Registry Expiry Date: 2028-08-04T08:07:35Z that is 8 years! But thebitcoin.foundation will expire next years, seems to me no longterm plans... |
13:21 |
kiwi_46shake |
https://shop.gandi.net/en/domain/suggest?search=bitcoin.foundation says that bitcoin.foundation indeed is premium domain but I doubt is 100,000 dollars (some domains like bitcoin.financial cost 90,000 dollars so who knows) |
13:21 |
kiwi_46shake |
maybe is truly 100,000 dollars |
13:21 |
kiwi_46shake |
whatever |
13:21 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: afaik no one tuned in here gives half a shit about 'bitcoin.foundation'. |
13:22 |
kiwi_46shake |
that is the point shithead |
13:22 |
kiwi_46shake |
you should care |
13:22 |
asciilifeform |
why ? |
13:22 |
kiwi_46shake |
thebitcoin.foundation is a shitty domain compared to the bitcoin.foundation domain |
13:22 |
asciilifeform |
aaa lol so kiwi_46shake came here to spam. |
13:22 |
kiwi_46shake |
you immediately sound like scam |
13:22 |
kiwi_46shake |
no |
13:23 |
kiwi_46shake |
I come here to tell you that THEbitcoin.foundation domain is sounds more scam than the bitcoin.foundation which actually really sending emails asking for Bitcoin |
13:24 |
kiwi_46shake |
I was astonished by this and whoever runs THEbitcoin.foundation website should really take care about the bitcoin.foundation |
13:26 |
kiwi_46shake |
I mean, if I see THEfacebook.com and facebook.com I probably immeditelly think that THEfacebook.com is a scam which I did in the case of THEbitcoin.foundation and bitcoin.foundation, your domain is long and AUTOMATICALLY makes me think you guys are scammers |
13:27 |
asciilifeform |
kiwi_46shake: your time is wasted here. please spam somewhere else. |
13:27 |
kiwi_46shake |
If I'm jurov I would contact the owners of the bitcoin.foundation and make a deal like Zuckerberg made a deal to buy facebook.com instead of stucking with the scam thefacebook.com |

13:31 |
kiwi_46shake |
I mean if this group "THEbitcoin.foundation" is serious than fucking go and ask the owner of the bitcoin.foundation what to do. There is an email on https://bitcoin.foundation (membership@bitcoin.foundation) maybe try that one jurov or whoever you are. |
13:44 |
mats |
ah yes the solution is to negotiate with the terrorists |
13:44 |
mats |
ingenious |
13:45 |
asciilifeform |
mats: solution is for jurov to moderate the chan or let somebody else do it. otherwise will be hard to find from beneath the pigeon shit. |
13:45 |
snsabot |
(asciilifeform) 2020-11-06 asciilifeform: jurov: if you won't moderate #therealbitcoin (or give op to someone who will) i'ma drop it from the logger. it's turning into a cesspool of spamola . |

lol, this grifter could've saved 8+ years worth of domain fees if he had spent thirty minutes doing research |
