15:26 awt asciilifeform: how should port and address be ordered in a PestAddress: http://www.loper-os.org/pub/pest/pest_draft.html#3112-pestaddress? Should port come first?
~ 26 minutes ~
15:52 asciilifeform awt: good q, loox like asciilifeform failed to specify properly. port goes 1st.
15:52 * asciilifeform puts this on list of req'd revs to spec
15:55 awt asciilifeform: got it
15:55 asciilifeform a++
15:57 awt Currently trying to figure out in what order python's socket.inet_aton() puts address bytes. Same as in_addr in C, but what order that would be is not clear.
15:58 asciilifeform awt: the internal machine representation aint part of pest spec (naturally will differ b/w platforms)
15:59 awt asciilifeform: sure but would be nice to use python's built-in func for converting an address to bytes if possible.
15:59 asciilifeform addr format is specified for address cast and prod
15:59 asciilifeform right
15:59 awt for generating the address field for prod

17:45 crtdaydreams awt: check peering info http://paste.deedbot.org/?id=Ugbc
17:46 * crtdaydreams has not had a successful peering from whaack and billymg either

19:58 awt crtdaydreams: not receiving anything from you
20:04 awt ah yes IP addr was completely different in latest gpggram
~ 18 minutes ~
20:23 crtdaydreams awt: not recieving anything from you
20:23 awt Ok well it's definitely going out
20:23 awt key matches as well
20:24 awt crtdaydreams: my logs: http://share.alethepedia.com/blatta/logs/current
20:25 awt [1.146.35.61:7778 crtdaydreams] <- BROADCAST crtdaydreams: my logs:
20:25 crtdaydreams still hearsay, I haven't got around to testing, I gotta do a bit of shitfuckery with iptables to run the two at once
20:27 awt crtdaydreams: what do you have for me in your AT?
20:28 crtdaydreams awt [no ip] and the key I sent you just before
20:29 awt crtdaydreams: I sent you my IP in a gpggram
20:29 crtdaydreams did you?
20:29 awt http://paste.deedbot.org/?id=M8it
20:30 awt yeah: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/pest/2022-07-17#1010108
20:31 crtdaydreams awt: it shouldn't matter, only one IP should be needed as the AT *should* be updated when you send any message to me
20:31 awt not if you're behind a firewall
20:31 awt you need to add my address first, because there's no way to know what port you'll be listening on
20:32 awt My station is not behind a NAT, so I can control the port used for outgoing messages
20:34 crtdaydreams odd that, I was able to peer w/ asciilifeform, jonsykkel and signpost with only 1 ip?
20:34 crtdaydreams mebbe I'm missing something here
20:34 awt did you add their IP first?
20:35 crtdaydreams gtg soz
20:35 awt one of the above could clear things up by pasting your line from their AT
~ 2 hours 23 minutes ~
22:58 crtdaydreams test
23:05 crtdaydreams I might be missing something here
23:05 crtdaydreams howdy asciilifeform
23:07 asciilifeform wb crtdaydreams
23:09 crtdaydreams I was under the impression that the random port assigned at runtime that messages are sent from have no affect on the destination as long as the destination port (and ip ofc) is known.
23:09 asciilifeform crtdaydreams: it doesn't unless yer behind a nat, and too lazy to make a fwd rule and then need to tell folx the port
23:10 asciilifeform ( this'll abolish that headache, but not implemented yet )
23:12 crtdaydreams asciilifeform: dun look like you're showing up in logotron
23:13 asciilifeform crtdaydreams: if yer looking at mine, there's a (not yet explained) lag on occasion
23:14 crtdaydreams herm
23:19 crtdaydreams is there a particular name for this, I'd like to read more into exactly what is happening
