01:57 billymg asciilifeform: yeah, i figured it was just taken from the previous logger without modification, and i wouldn't expect much attention to be given to the css considering it was a wartime effort

19:00 whaack asciilifeform: The highest block number I've found with a high S signature is 388166, hash 000000000000000005de239ca0d781cc9e78add7c48e94e2264223aa31fc6256; it was mined around December 13, 2015.
19:01 whaack I checked up until block 400,000 after that, there could possibly be a high s signature between 401,000...present day
19:01 asciilifeform whaack: mighty interesting find. see what you get when check the rest of'em
19:01 asciilifeform evidently took at least that long to nail down the cartel properly
19:03 whaack yes I was quite stunned, before doing this search after having read the logs etc. I thought that the cartel took over July 4th or 5th, that same day as the supposed fork
19:05 whaack Then I read elsewhere that no, it was only when prb 0.11.1 was released, on October 15th, that the cartel started enforcing its new fake rule (https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.11.1, https://archive.is/8ecWN)
19:15 whaack asciilifeform: Btw, I determined that a txn was "high s" if the signatures s-value was 33 bytes as per this guide I found here (https://archive.is/GpooO)
19:16 asciilifeform imho interesting related piece found while digging.
19:18 whaack Although the guide I just linked, as far as I can tell, has some disinfo. For example it appears that s, and r values can be less than 31 bytes long, not something one would deduce from the guide.

19:37 whaack asciilifeform: Do you have a recommendation of a guide for learning the internals of ECDSA? I'd like to write my own signer + verifier, in order to understand bitcoin sigs in better detail.
19:41 asciilifeform whaack: i know of none that i consider a++ great. there's the orig. SEC 1 and SEC 2 turds (warning:pdfism) ; vanstone's 'applied cryptography'; and of course existing proggies.
19:42 asciilifeform ( the latter includes jfw's thing, he had what he said was a working signer, i have not tried however )
