verisimilitude: tbh I agree. I want a portable with a human keyboard, proper key action |
16:22 |
trinque |
I don't give a flying fuck about thin. |

trinque: i've actually been experimenting (slowly) w/ infamous 'gluegun on wheels' + buffing paste, for possible ad-hoc plastics worx |
16:24 |
asciilifeform |
apparently nao can get various exotic feedstock for'em, incl. carbonfiber + various filler |
16:24 |
* |
asciilifeform doubts, currently, the possibility of a trooly usable '3dized' keyboard; but ~molds~ are another matter |
16:26 |
trinque |
yeah, the printed mold approach seems suitable |
16:27 |
trinque |
carbon fiber laptop chassis and keyboard would be pretty nice indeed. |

atm thinking that the most promising approach to these is -- sadly -- the scavenger one : msdos-era lappy kbds cost next-to-nothing on ebay et al, and often enuff new-old-stock, perfectly functioning if one builds the matrix controller and appropriate chassis around it |
16:30 |
asciilifeform |
not 'renewable resource' , naturally. but atm the biggest, by far, 'bang for buck' afaik. |
16:32 |
asciilifeform |
trinque: really, lappy chassis (and keys) oughta be stampings. from steel, like kalash. |
16:32 |
asciilifeform |
but this is obv. difficult to prototype in small qty. |

>Steel stampings .... welp at least my kybd will survive nuclear holocaust or something. |

I referred in particular to software with that, but hardware has degraded with it, certainly. |

listen, you never know who you may suddenly have to bludgeon. |
16:52 |

I do type less, but believe this chording keyboard has greatly helped with my pain, now that I'm growing accustomed to it. |
16:55 |
verisimilitude |
I don't think I'll want to ever return to predominantly using a typical keyboard. |
16:56 |
shinohai |
trinque: If I use as bludgeon, then imma go all the way and engrave the keys so they leave imprints on forehead. |
16:58 |
verisimilitude |
I don't yet use it for programming, however. |
16:59 |

shinohai is still using Chinesium "Redragon" mech kybd .. |

I'd recommend the BAT, but others here trying other options is also advantageous. |
