what's interesting is that after adding swap (after that incident), the crawler has also been running smoothly despite not having any pg reconnect logic (it used to lose its connection to pg as regularly as the bots) |

i didn't think to add swap before since mem utilization was hovering around 70%, but now looking at top it's also using a small amount of virtual memory, even though mem utilization is still roughly the same as it was before |

performance seems slightly better when loading/searching the logs too. perhaps the system, knowing it has the extra swap headroom, lets processes use more real memory? |
