00:01 whaack mod6: yup, looks like we're peered
00:01 mod6 :]
00:03 mod6 In other news, after removing that if statement and cleaning up my AT, blatta remained stable since the 9th, no crashes.
~ 21 minutes ~
00:25 asciilifeform wb mod6 !
00:25 whaack mod6: what are you up to now adays?
00:27 mod6 asciilifeform: ty!
00:28 mod6 whaack: mainly just working on pet projects last year or so; most of it non-computer related. i have some trb stuff that's still in test; been meaning to get some of it out for additional testing, just been traveling a bunch.
00:29 mod6 working on it.
00:30 mod6 it's been kinda nice getting back into computer stuff these last several months after a nice long break.
00:31 mod6 but other than pet projects, computer stuff here and there, do quite a bit of hunting and (ice) fishing.
00:36 mod6 and, lol, snow removal. speaking of which... bbs.
00:40 whaack i feel you on the 'nice to get back into computer stuff'
~ 17 minutes ~
00:57 whaack hunting and ice fishing sounds pretty fun as well
~ 44 minutes ~
01:42 mod6 Yeah, nice to get outside and enjoy nature & clear head.
01:42 mod6 I'm off for a bit, bbl folks.
~ 14 hours 3 minutes ~
15:46 billymg good morning all
15:46 billymg yeah, still no luck peering with mod6, signpost, and shinohai. i seem to be the common denominator so perhaps there's something interesting to be learned from my configuration
15:50 shinohai Heya billymg hope yer having great weekend.
15:51 billymg hey shinohai, likewise. it's a relaxing saturday morning here, can't complain
15:54 shinohai Snowing here, but having same relaxing Saturday morning. Espresso, fire, and girls. Only liquor could make this better.
15:56 billymg sounds cozy
15:56 billymg i honestly miss the snow quite a bit
16:03 shinohai It's kind of a rare occurrence here (snow). It is uber cozy though.
16:12 asciilifeform guten morgen billymg et al
16:13 billymg mornin' asciilifeform
16:13 * asciilifeform cleaning up various hasty sharp edges in latest cut of spec
16:14 * asciilifeform thinking nao that things like this prolly belong in a separate 'datatypes' section
16:17 shinohai Buenas dias asciilifeform !
16:17 asciilifeform wb shinohai
16:17 asciilifeform wb shinohai
16:20 * asciilifeform fulla hata for 'markdown', where cannot e.g. insert or reorder sections w/out breaking over9000 linx and having to manually fix
16:20 asciilifeform *fulla hate
~ 1 hours 15 minutes ~
17:36 whaack billymg: you checked the check for is None in the peer is_duplicate function?
17:36 whaack if you don't have that fix then that is likely your problem
17:36 whaack especially if your peers that are failing added your info, rather than you having added their info
17:45 billymg whaack: this one? http://paste.deedbot.org/?id=wQJn
17:46 whaack billymg: yes
17:46 billymg i do have that one, yeah
17:47 billymg and tried re-peering after applying it. in fact even tried starting from a fresh db
17:48 whaack hm, no leads from me then
17:48 whaack lol
17:51 billymg yeah, it's even stranger because i've successfully peered with 6 other stations, only 3 remain unpeered
~ 3 hours 6 minutes ~
20:57 awt jonsykkel: getting "2022-01-15 13:00:40 error: could not read 256 bytes from rng" from smalpest
20:59 jonsykkel awt: thats weird, it just tries to read from /dev/random
21:00 jonsykkel what happens if run something like dd if=/dev/random of=/dev/null bs=256 count=1
21:01 awt jonsykkel: http://paste.deedbot.org/?id=C4AM
21:02 jonsykkel weird, should read 256 bytes one would think
21:03 jonsykkel what os etc?
21:03 awt gentoo, amd64
21:03 jonsykkel ok
21:04 jonsykkel what happens if do same dd with /dev/urandom?
21:05 awt jonsykkel: http://paste.deedbot.org/?id=qBle
21:06 jonsykkel maybe i dont understand something about /dev/random but afaik should just block if cant supply bytes
21:06 jonsykkel u can try replacing with urandom in top of src/config.h, then make clean && make
21:08 awt jonsykkel: worx
21:08 jonsykkel cool
21:08 jonsykkel dunno whats up with that, dont have linux machines to test on currently
21:09 awt what are you running on?
21:09 jonsykkel freebsd
21:10 jonsykkel here urandom is symlinked to random
21:22 jonsykkel Since Linux 3.16, a read(2) from /dev/urandom will return at most 32 MB. A read(2) from /dev/random will return at most 512 bytes (340 bytes on Linux kernels before version 2.6.12).
21:22 jonsykkel maybe its 115 on some systems ??
21:23 jonsykkel i should probably put that read call in a loop anyway. ty for report
21:25 awt jonsykkel: yw
