so i was inspired by tmsr in 2014 to send out my gpg pubkey to a bunch of services that i use. most places simply ignored it, but today it paid off with the epic uptime machine. all i had to do was to point at an old email, pubkey in /root/ and send a signed request for a ssh pubkey replacement to recover a machine in barely amount of time it took to send three emails |

fwiw, i also opted out of a travel gpg key, because i realized my infrastructure is not sufficiently developed to support that mode. i have a hopefully reasonable alternative that i'm relying on, but rather not explain till i come back |
