16:36 mircea_popescu anyway, i must say the profiling seen here crowns an expectation that has been slowly building from what was shown prior, ie that the snipped bitcoin 5 we're using is actually a major improvement over the old bitcoin 5, and thus very, very far ahead of bitcoin 10/11/etc.
16:36 ascii_field mircea_popescu did read the patch iirc

17:17 mircea_popescu back to the lulzlaw department for a moment, " Nonetheless, the government concedes that it failed to file a timely certificate with the district court "that the appeal was not taken for purpose of delay and that the evidence is a substantial proof of a fact material in the proceeding," although § 3731 required it to do so. The government has now filed such a certificate, and correctly notes that the late filing, alth

17:18 mircea_popescu o, so the government filed late ? it's ok, we'll invent some legally meaningless words it can be bad in, but otherwise it's fine.
17:18 mircea_popescu you try filing late.

17:20 mircea_popescu and so therefore, " If the requirement of the timely filing of a certificate is to have substantial meaning, the government's appeal here should be dismissed. Indeed, the purpose of the certificate requirement is to ensure the government has verified the propriety of its appeal, and so certified to the district court, at the time it files its notice of appeal. That purpose is defeated by the perfunctory filing of the c
17:20 mircea_popescu ertificate after the appeal has been docketed and briefed and within days of its argument in this Court."
17:20 mircea_popescu but is there a disbarment of the government counsel as a result of attempted fraud in open court ?
17:20 jurov "but that does not rise to jurisdictional dimensions"
17:21 mircea_popescu where is the one year in the can for contempt + civil liability for the prosecuting team + their eighteen indictment trial for all sorts of fraud, abuse of legal process etc.

19:36 mod6 <+hanbot> ... hey mod6, could you make a version of this that isn't aws-specific? or wouldja be willing to me make one? << yea, absolutely. I'll get there at some point soon hopefully.
19:36 BingoBoingo http://i.imgur.com/RvF9Pje.jpg
19:36 assbot ... ( http://bit.ly/1HctjnQ )
19:36 mod6 Allow me to elaborate for a minute here and I'll explain why I did what I did.
19:38 mod6 To begin with, I was completely unfamiliar with gentoo in any sense -- aside from once trying to set it up from the Handbook, which I found that I didn't have time to work my way through and get it set up properly. So my goal was to get familiar with Gentoo and to start to build a system that can be agreed upon that suits our needs for building bitcoind.
19:40 mod6 One of my goals was to get this going as soon as possible in AWS so we could continue with builds/testing/development and ditch Debian6. And additonally, I have a 350Gb storage volume there that I wanted to not just discard as it has at least half-a-dozen fully sync'd blockchains on there.
19:41 mod6 So the idea was that I would learn a few things about Gentoo, get a hand-rolled stage3 + a fully blessed tool chain and be able to attch my "btc-dev" storage volume and just pick up where we left-off -- at lesat as far as what artifacts I'd already collected.
19:43 mod6 Upon news of my endevour, Mr. P. asked me to document what I'd done carefully so we all can be on the same page -- which is also good because I don't know what I'm doing with Gentoo anyway. Having people look over what I'm doing provides some bit of steering in-case I get off course.
19:45 mod6 So basically that's where we are. I've gotten to the point where I can create an AWS AMI -> deploy hand-rolled Gentoo instance. I'll certainly continue to build out the blessed toolchain over the next week and beyond. Further, then I'll take what I've learned from all of this and apply it to building a hand-rolled Gentoo on a bare-rails environment.
19:45 mod6 Apparently this is not much different than what I've already done, but I really don't know.
19:45 gabriel_laddel mod6: have you looked into the portage sources?
19:46 gabriel_laddel I was poking around the other day - first there is ~70k LoC, which wtf seriously
19:47 mod6 And lastly, I really need to get some sort of physical environment here to support that last part. So I'll work on figuring out something for that as well. Maybe even an old laptop.
19:47 mircea_popescu gabriel_laddel but if anyone opposed to smoking, drinking and eating whatever falls into your hads is "new age bs", then hippo should be too.

21:18 mircea_popescu well ok, but in terms of standards : as a young man with no property, your options were essentially to go into military service, which offered pay and, upon serving 18ish to 20something years, a large settlement payment and provincial land.

22:39 asciilifeform decimation: the official story not only does not add up, but wtf, they killed all of the witnesses (own soldiers) in 'training accidents' aha.
22:39 asciilifeform does not add or subtract to the credibility of linked piece. but worth noting.
22:39 decimation aye
22:41 asciilifeform 'The retired official said there had been another complication: some members of the Seal team had bragged to colleagues and others that they had torn bin Laden’s body to pieces with rifle fire. The remains, including his head, which had only a few bullet holes in it, were thrown into a body bag and, during the helicopter flight back to Jalalabad, some body parts were tossed out over the Hindu Kush mountains – or so the Sea

At the time, the retired official said, the Seals did not think their mission would be made public by Obama within a few hours: ‘If the president had gone ahead with the cover story, there would have been no need to have a funeral within hours of the killing. Once the cover story was blown, and the death was made public, the White House had a serious “Where’s the body?” problem. '
22:42 decimation makes sense
22:42 asciilifeform 'The world knew US forces had killed bin Laden in Abbottabad. Panic city. What to do? We need a “functional body” because we have to be able to say we identified bin Laden via a DNA analysis. It would be navy officers who came up with the “burial at sea” idea. Perfect. No body. Honourable burial following sharia law. Burial is made public in great detail, but Freedom of Information documents confirming the burial are d

It’s the classic unravelling of a poorly constructed cover story – it solves an immediate problem but, given the slightest inspection, there is no back-up support. 22:54 asciilifeform ah hm.

22:57 BingoBoingo Well, the libsodium thing. Yes distasteful. Used though only for signing and verifying. Pretty sure we had a short convo about how similar "reop" sucked. Far from ideal, then again ideal needs new silicon.
22:59 BingoBoingo People who have been fumbling in their own WoT simply trying to come up with a useful code signing tool. Ideal, no. Useful, maybe. MP continues his Bob Beck fatwa? Well, MP never really ends those in practice.
