06:20 Chaang-Noi: rough problem, eh?
06:21 usually by now, its getting ready for the weekend dip so we'll see just what sort of support there is.
06:21 Chaang-Noi i was just shocked, i expected it to be around 2.5
06:21 Chaang-Noi im waiting for 3.5ish to sell more
06:21 Chaang-Noi if we enver get there, ill just hold
06:22 Chaang-Noi i expected the crazy market to see the "low" divdend and panick, im glad im wrong
06:22 as long as the dividends remain stable, there's no reason to sell unless a person has an awesome selling opportunity or needs quick coins
06:24 Chaang-Noi yeah, i think we will hit 3.5
06:24 Chaang-Noi much over 3.5 im not sure
06:24 that's what people have said about 3 too :D

06:26 lol
06:26 but what if it shoots to 10?
06:26 Chaang-Noi i left money on the table
06:26 just do the "sell half and hold" method
06:26 each time it goes up a btc, sell half an hold
06:26 Chaang-Noi at 5? i might keep a bt, but im sure 90% will be gone
06:26 with sufficient qty, you'll still make money and not miss the wave
06:27 Chaang-Noi i dont think 10 is realistic at all
06:27 Chaang-Noi much over 5 i dont think so, id have to run the numbers again

09:04 mircea_popescu no, actually. they're not going to cut out mizuho
09:05 mircea_popescu buit they ARE cutting mtgox's stuff. sooner or later mizuho will have to say sorry you can't bank here.
09:05 davout and that's probably the reason their USD assets abroad didn't get frozen, because they're not in mtgox's name, but pooled by the mizuho at some random correspondent
09:06 davout nobody said they're going to cut out mizuho, i'm saying that it's technically possible for correspondents to filter out mtgox's flows but not possible to freeze the assets since they are probably pooled by mizuho on a US account at one/many of their correspondent(s)
09:06 mircea_popescu i doubt it.

10:21 ThickAsThieves gox unleases a wall of text on facebook
10:21 ThickAsThieves please forgive me for incoming wall
10:21 ThickAsThieves Dear Mt. Gox Customers and Bitcoiners,
10:21 ThickAsThieves The reaction since yesterday’s statement regarding the temporary suspension of U.S. dollar withdrawals has had mixed reactions, and raised more than a few questions about why we had to take this step right now. Rather than be subject to inaccurate speculation we’d like to clarify some points here. Due to pending matters we are unable to get into everything in great detail, though
10:21 ThickAsThieves we’d certainly love to and are looking forward to the opportunity.
10:21 ThickAsThieves 1) The problem with the U.S. withdrawals (and even other currencies for that matter) is that our bank can no longer handle the volume of withdrawals. They struggled in the last two months, and the increase due to the Dwolla separation has made it increasingly more difficult. The pressure we brought onto the bank’s resources finally gave in, and we are now working with them to find an
10:21 ThickAsThieves alternative method (hence the suspension). We would have preferred to give notice if we were able to, but it was sudden for us as well.
10:21 ThickAsThieves 2) We are now working with new banks and alternative methods for transmitting money to our customers. This does not mean we are stopping entirely within the next two weeks, but it will be slower than we would like. We are literally going to use our manpower to process withdrawals ourselves, manually. This will take more time, but we are dedicated to doing as many per day as possible.
10:21 ThickAsThieves We announced a suspension in order to manage expectations while we deliver at a temporary reduced rate. Our goal is to have a new system set up in the next weeks with clarity for both the banks and for our customers.
10:22 ThickAsThieves 3) Our previous release was rather vague, but for a reason. Mainly, we don't want to upset our bank! They do great work, but our kind of business is completely new to the banking industry. Processing international wires does not just involve pushing a button. It requires real manpower processing everything individually, even in this modern computer age. While Bitcoin's power lies in
10:22 ThickAsThieves its ability to transfer fast and securely through software, the rest of the financial world does not operate like that (contrary to popular opinion). Money is surprisingly analog in many ways, and scarily digital in others.
10:22 assbot [BTCTC] [TAT.ASICMINER] 1 @ 0.030849 BTC [-]
10:22 ThickAsThieves 4) Every customer’s funds are safe, sound, and accounted for. In fact, in our dealings with the Japanese financial regulators we have been assured that we are not under local pressure or suspicion and can operate as usual within normal legal frameworks.
10:22 ThickAsThieves 5) Mt. Gox is certainly not a martyr, but it would be hard to argue that we aren’t "taking one for the team" as far as Bitcoin is concerned. We are a big target, and are absorbing the frustrations of Bitcoiners, regulators, banks, and a media that still doesn't quite understand what Bitcoin is. This is a job we are happy to fill, and not just because we are compensated for it. Our
10:22 ThickAsThieves hope is that, once Bitcoin finds its place, we will be able to say that we made a difference in sorting it all out in the early days. New exchanges, business models, merchants, traders, and consumers are rising up to innovate and create a whole new way of doing business. A lot of lawyers are getting new cars in the meantime too.
10:22 ThickAsThieves 6) As risky as it is to invoke the name of Litecoin (LTC???), we must apologize for not keeping everyone up to date. The fact is that the current situation means a continued delay, but for good reasons. We’re looking at July right now, though that depends on a few things. Mainly, we want to do things correctly from the beginning.
10:22 ThickAsThieves 7) The new trading engine is finished, is smokin’ fast, and is currently undergoing bench tests. We’re looking forward to deploying it very soon.
10:22 ThickAsThieves While not the most in-depth update we'd like to give, we hope that it has at least clarified a few things. In the next few weeks we are planning to do another AMA on Reddit when we’ll hopefully be able to answer many more questions and also shed some light on what’s been going on at Mt. Gox these past months. Thank you for your patience and support.

We are a big target, and are absorbing the frustrations of Bitcoiners, regulators, banks, and a media that still doesn't quite understand what Bitcoin is. This is a job we are happy to fill, and not just because we are compensated for it. Our hope is that, once Bitcoin finds its place, we will be able

It says that this has come as a result of bank account closures and fraudulent account activity. The exchange had been acclaimed by Reddit users for use of the Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication to increase security. Ultimately, this has not helped the business remain trouble free.

19:14 benkay shortly thereafter i saw not one but two men holding signs for the same company, on the same corner.
19:15 benkay doubt either were making law-required minimum wage.
19:15 mircea_popescu kinda sucky.
19:16 benkay *shrug*
19:16 benkay part of the cycle.
19:16 benkay i've been getting the jitters
19:17 benkay i'd really hate to be trying to get rich right before shit went tits-up
19:17 benkay and i'd really hate to be preparing for shit to go tits-up ten years too early
19:17 benkay until 2 weeks ago i was convinced i had another decade to get rich
19:17 benkay mood has changed here.
19:17 mircea_popescu well tell you what,
19:18 mircea_popescu if i went for snacks and there were no snacks i'd just fire everybody.
19:18 benkay must be nice to be unencumbered by unions
