bonechewer: thanks. I'll give the vitamin b-6 a try, and I'll consider dropping the $$ for the kinesis, I tried a ergodox keyboard before but did not like it (couldn't get over the learning curve, also I detested that keys changed function based on how long you pressed them for, maybe I could have configured away the problem but never got around to it) |

whaack |
asciilifeform: why would that be? |
17:55 |
asciilifeform |
consider, pressing non-clicking keys (with short, often enuff, travel distance) is rather like smashing yer fingers against a brick. repeatedly, all day, for years, decades. |
17:55 |
asciilifeform |
whaack: the click is a tactile 'stop'. (while the spring effectively absorbs energy) |

suffering is an exaggeration, but it's clear that there is a big problem on the horizon |
18:00 |
asciilifeform |
afaik it's never entirely too late, simply that the radical cure (i.e. keep hands entirely off kbd for a yr or 2) is not affordable to most sufferers |
18:06 |
asciilifeform |
whaack: wrist destruction, i suspect, comes from even more radically human-hostile computing, specifically laptopisms |
18:06 |
asciilifeform |
(on decent stationary workstation, there oughta be ~0 wrist tension no matter how strenuous the kbding) |
18:16 |
whaack |
asciilifeform: right, I don't use a laptop setup for any extended period of time. There's a fundamental problem with a screen connected to a keyboard. Your neck has to be bent down to view the screen if you have the keyboard at the proper level for your wrists. |
